About Aruba

Bon Bini!

Welcome to Aruba Kitesurfing Experience, a site dedicated to promote wind related sport activities and tourism in the beautiful Caribbean island of Aruba.

Why Aruba?

Aruba is one of the most popular windsurfing and kitesurfing destination in the world!

The island is widely known for its white sandy beaches of its western and southern coasts, relatively sheltered from fierce ocean currents, and this is where most tourist development has taken place. The northern and eastern coasts, lacking this protection, are considerably more battered by the sea and have been left largely untouched by humans.

Aruba features a fantastic tropical savanna like climate. Its temperature varies little from 28 °C (82.4 °F), mostly around 33°C, moderated by constant trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean, which comes from north-east. Yearly precipitation barely exceeds 400 mm (15.7 in)... it doesn't get any better that!

When to go?

Aruba's high-wind season is the longest in the Caribbean. Wind speeds are best in May, June and July, when they average 20 to 30 knots. From December through April, they slow to 15 to 20 knots, and from August through November they range from 10 to 18 knots.

How?

Aruba’s Reina Beatrix International Airport  is a busy, modern airport.

Passengers flying to the US absolutely must take heed of their airline’s warning to check in three hours before flight time. Actually four hours might be better because all US-bound passengers clear customs and immigration before they leave Aruba.

Most flights back to the US leave during a small timeslot in the afternoon and the US-staffed immigration facilities are not up to the task. If possible, try to avoid going home on a weekend when things are the worst. Once ensconced in the terminal, there are bookstores, places for internet access and fast food places just like the ones at home
